TRANSGENERATION 
SUPPORT 
GROUP

This is a free social and support group for anyone who identifies as transgender, genderqueer, or gender non-conforming. Walk-ins are welcome!

  • 1st Tuesday of Every Month, 6:00 p.m. -7:45 p.m., SPoT Coffee (227 Delaware Ave.) 
  • 3rdThursday of Every Month, 6:00 p.m. – 7:45 p.m., Pride Center (200 S Elmwood Ave.)
  • Street parking only (free after 5 p.m.)

Find us on Facebook by clicking here! You can also access the group by searching for “TransGeneration Support Group Buffalo,” and requesting to join our private group. In the group, you can chat with peers and the THI team. This will keep you connected if you can’t make it to the meetings. You will be able to access the group once we approve your request (please allow 24-48hrs).

1:ON:1

The 1:on:1 program is a sh0rt-term intervention designed to help you meet your health and wellness goals within an eight-session timeframe. A trained Harm Reduction Counselor will work with you to develop your short-term goals, help keep you on track, and provide you with gift cards and other incentives when you meet the goals you have set for yourself in a friendly, confidential, easy-going setting.

NAILS is a program that teaches trans and gender-diverse people how to talk to their friends about safer sex practices. If more people know how to have safer sex and get tested, then we can save our friends from contracting HIV and other STIs.

THERAPY 

Trans Art Therapy: Art Therapy uses creativity and art to help you

  • Reduce your stress
  • Feel better about yourself
  • Manage your behavior
  • Learn to communicate with other people

Trans Art Therapy lets you talk with other trans people about your life and experiences while making art.  This group meets quarterly on the following dates:

  • October 25, 2016 from 6-7:30pm @ 200 South Elmwood Ave.
  • February 28, 2017 from 6-7:30pm @ 200 South Elmwood Ave.
  • June 27th 2017 from 6-7:30pm @ 200 South Elmwood Ave.
  • October 24th 2017 from 6-7:30pm @ 200 South Elmwood Ave.

COMPETENCY
TRAININGS

The Pride Center offers free Trans-Focused Cultural Competency Trainings for agencies that are interested in receiving the most up-to-date information on transgender-affirmative care and best business practices. This training addresses the difference between gender identity and sexual orientation, provides a basic understanding of LGBTQ health disparities, and provides tools for you to make your agency as trans-inclusive and affirming as possible.

NATIONAL TRANS AND GENDER-EXPANSIVE PROGRAMS AND SERVICES

Trans Lifeline is a 501(c)3 non-profit dedicated to the well-being of transgender people. This is a hotline staffed by transgender people for transgender people. Trans Lifeline volunteers are ready to respond to whatever support needs members of the community might have.

Transgender Surgeries in the US: An Interactive Map is a resource that can help you find a surgeon (hopefully) near you!

Laura’s Playground is a free support site for MTF, FTM, Transsexual, Transgender, Crossdressers, Intersex, Androgynous and their Significant Others and friends.

National Center for Transgender Equality is the nation’s leading social justice advocacy organization winning life-saving change for transgender people. NCTE was founded in 2003 by transgender activists who recognized the urgent need for policy change to advance transgender equality.

Transgender Law Center changes law, policy, and attitudes so that all people can live safely, authentically, and free from discrimination regardless of their gender identity or expression.

Transgender Legal Defense and Education Fund is committed to ending discrimination based upon gender identity and expression and to achieving equality for transgender people through public education, test-case litigation, direct legal services, and public policy efforts.
