An announcement from the Pride Center of Western New York

As many of you may know, The Pride Center of Western New York and GLYS have a shared history with complementary missions. Both organizations were established at the onset of the HIV/AIDS crisis and even share some of the same founders.

Evergreen, the Pride Center and GLYS have always been, and remain, committed to meeting the needs of the LGBTQ+ community by leveraging their respective strengths. It is with this in mind that today, Monday, April 28, 2025, we write to inform you that Evergreen and GLYS have signed an agreement for GLYS to acquire the Pride Center. This transaction will allow each organization to concentrate on their individual areas of expertise and further strengthen their commitments to support and serve the LGBTQ+ community in Western New York.

Under this agreement, the Pride Center will stay intact and remain a not-for-profit corporation with 501(c)(3) status and will continue to retain community programming related grants. GLYS will provide the Pride Center with operational and managerial oversight. GLYS has significant experience in advancing community programming-related work and is well-equipped to address the social needs of the community, specifically for LGBTQ+ youth. In addition, as part of the agreement, the Pride Center will continue to refer clients with medical and behavioral needs or concerns to Evergreen’s Health.

What’s next?

This agreement is expected to be finalized in the coming weeks. In the meantime, the Pride Center will continue to operate business as usual out of 278 Delaware Ave., and patients will continue to access services as they normally would.

We will continue to provide any necessary updates in the coming weeks.
